Newest additions to the beachy vibe

Helloooo! Paid a little visit to Ikea today (along with the rest of the world it seemed!) mainly on a mission to locate some of those long storage boxes that go under the bed. So obviously ended up walking out with some new lampshades instead-makes perfect sense.
Anyway here's some "edge of your seat" pics of these beachy-esque lights "in action".

Operation Little Blue Wall in process

So this is the side I've started with following painting the back wall which, my dad covered in wood paneling as part of my quest to one day own a beach house. Then I decided to rescue an old table from a lifetime of photograph displaying downstairs to act as my desk. Of course this had to be blue as well. Suffice to say I've spent the last few days looking like an aqua-marine smurf.

And.... the chaos on the other side of the room that everything's been shifted to

One more Crete find!

My moodboard!

Oooo nearly forgot just in case anyone likes decor and interior stuff (maybe it's just me) but here's some pictures of where I drew inspiration for the design ideas in my own room

These little treasures were picked up while on a holiday in Crete from a shop we renamed the turquoise shop (couldn't remember its real name and everything in the store was exclusively some variation of the shade). Turns out the clothes and jewellery were ridiculously expensive (and then some, honestly does anyone even know someone who would pay 15€ for some sparkerly bangles). But they were practically giving away the pottery.
Those mini pots there are actually raki pots (I found out while paying for them) the appropriate glass size for Greece's choice of wine.

My trusty mini orange tree! The one thing I feel confident in looking after without too much panic

"Aged to Perfection": A fantastic and visually beautiful know how for making furniture look like its survived a few storms plus looks great on a coffee table!

Where it begins-the little blue wall!

Ok I should probably point out that I am well aware there are already sooooo many blogs out there! Also most of these blogs are written by much funnier and creatively minded people than I. However after plugging away sometimes productively sometimes not so much, for four years at a Modern Languages degree, a swift move to Canada to teach English in the French Canadian Province of Québec for a year (introducing me to -40°c Winters, the genius that is Poutine, sharing my walk to school with bears-that kind of thing) and a handful of interesting internships ranging from the cruel to the comedy gold! -Fast forward through that and I find myself a perfect fit for today's most popular peer group-an unemployed graduate with a taste for traveling and French/Australian/Italian/Spanish wine (like I said perfect fit!).

Anyways (stay with me, I'm almost done) failing to find financially-rewarding activities I found myself still needing some kind of project to keep cabin fever at bay. One painfully plan-free and quiet afternoon plus an obsession with homestyle magazines gave way to my attention being turned to my own four walls. Feeling slightly ashamed at the neglectful treatment of my heated, spacious, comfortable and (did I mention) rent-free room within my parent's home I decided to put my power of excess free-time to good use and transform it into, well something other than the essentially large storage facility for 24 years of accumulated silly things.

The End: Therefore this blog is really to document my process of transforming my space into somewhere I'd like to be (I'm aiming for beach house meets seaside heaven but anything in the realm of nautical would do) as an alternative to worrying about a growing amount of student debt and this wide-spread unemployment fiasco! Also to see if this room interior uplift will have any effect on how productive my life becomes while in it (everyone loves an underdog right!)

New Blog!
